Nostalgia.
Four years in Nanyang are officially over. Officially graduated, officially finished all the exams, received our graduation certs and scrolls, said our final goodbyes to all the teachers. I never thought that the day would come, honestly. It always felt so far away, even to the very last day before graduation. But now the reality of it is finally dawning upon me, and in my head I'm still going, "Wow... four years..."
I remember last time I always said I couldn't wait to graduate from NYGH, but when I look back now, I realised how naive I've been, and how stupid all those reasons for wanting to graduate were. Now that we've really graduated from NY, I feel so sad and nostalgic. It's been an amazing four years, with all my friends, teachers, activities, and everything else about this wonderful school. We'll still see each other in JC, but it just wouldn't be the same I reckon. JC life will be exciting but... just different. And just imagine, if four years in high school passed so quickly, what more JC which is only 2 years? :O
Some groups of people I really want to thank for being with me and impacting me so much these past four years:
1. My teachers Ms Teng and Mrs Ho
Shan't say so much about them, just that these two teachers are so special to me as they are the only ones who stayed with me for the whole of my four years in Nanyang. I knew Mrs Ho would stay with me for my whole life in NY because she's my HMP teacher as well as my CCA teacher-in-charge, but for Ms Teng it was a total coincidence. Being the teachers who stayed with me throughout my time in NY, apart from growing older, I've also grown more mature, more responsible, more experienced in all aspects. Really want to thank them because they are the ones who have guided me so much in the last four years.
2. Nanyang String Ensemble
It's been a pleasure leading the group for a year from Sec 3 to 4, and I've gained so much from my term as president, but more than that, it's been an amazing four years with my CCA. Of course not leaving out my conductor, Mr Sze. He's the best conductor I've ever had in all my performing experiences. Other than just teaching us music technicalities, he also teaches us so much about the world, sharing his experiences with us and even building up our general knowledge haha. Everyone in NYSE has also been so wonderful, with all of us going through the same common experience of suffering Mr Sze's wrath and working so hard together to achieve our common goals like for SYF, concerts, etc. The experience from my CCA will definitely not be forgotten, and will stay with me for life.
3. My closest friends (you know who you are)
High school life would be nothing without friends. And with friends like those that I have, they stay with you for life. In a way, high school would never end. :) These people have been supporting me from Day 1, and I will not be where I am without them, definitely. Without them, I would have given up a long time ago. And they've also put up with my emotions - crazy, sad, emotional, angry, etc. and that's saying something. So these guys are awesome, and I really must thank all of them for all they've done for me, knowingly or not.
