Ebullience.
First week of IP activities are over, and it was a pretty eventful week. We were greeted on the first day with an English diagnostic test, what a wonderful way to be welcomed into HCJC. Monday to Thursday were filled with mostly lectures, breaks, and more lectures. The lectures were meant to help us find out what each subject would be like, and to help us determine what subject combination we would want over the next two years.
On the subject of choosing subject combinations, right now I'm thinking about taking BCMM (Bio Chem Math Music), but I'm still torn between Bio and Economics. The Economics lecture undoubtedly captured my attention, and I really am quite interested in it. But if I take Econs, I won't take Chem because my rationale behind taking Chem is because of Bio. And the thing is, I'm also interested in Bio. So how?! My mum told me to take Econs if I'm more interested in finance and business, or to take Bio if I'm more interested in medicine. Dilemma...
Now that we're in HCJC, I have more time to spend with D. :> Great being able to see him everyday in school now. I'm still trying to adjust to the fact that I'm in a co-ed school now. After four years spent in an all-girls school, it feels quite different to be in a school environment with guys again.
This photo was taken on Wednesday in school (can't really see here though it's quite blur).
On Thursday, Meri, Joyce and I went back to NYGH for our HMP Coursework recording session. It was quite good fun, albeit tiring and stressful for me because I didn't manage to practise my own composition much. My playing was not in tip-top shape, put it this way. I only practised my composition the day before the recording, so you can imagine the amount of stress when I had to RECORD my completely imperfect playing on Thursday. While Meri and Joyce only had to take two tries to get the recording right, I had to try at least five times before the recording sounded mildly acceptable. -.- My teacher said that I didn't practise enough during the holidays, which is rather demoralising for me (hence resolution no. 11). I really have to try to practise more, despite feeling so lazy sometimes. Just need to push myself. Plus I'm taking music this year, so there should be absolutely no excuse for me not to practise. Anyway in the end I finally managed to record my composition, without my HMP teacher in the room. Another bad sign: I can't play properly under pressure, which means for practical exams my playing will be less than perfect too. I really need to buck up on my piano.
After the recording session I went to visit NYSE. Received a warm welcome when I entered the room, with all my juniors turning around and saying "Hilaryyyyy!" with smiles on their faces. It's touching to see how I'm so dearly missed, haha. When I greeted Mr Sze he too said "hello" with a wide smile. Such a nice welcome to my old CCA. :) Spent most of my time there helping my section with the bass guitars they bought, and watching a part of their rehearsal. I really miss playing in NYSE; I feel that playing in a string orchestra like that under Mr Sze's baton is an out-of-the-world experience, and it cannot be compared to playing in any other orchestra. Really miss my ensemble a lot.
Yesterday, we had our CNY celebration in school. Celebrating in HCJC is quite different from in NYGH. I love how whenever there's a special event in school, the Student Council would hang something overhead about two stories above the Central Plaza. That always brings about a grand atmosphere to the event (if only I had a good camera to take photos). There were a series of performances, and following that there was something like a food fair in the Central Plaza, followed by aoyusheng for every class. The overall atmosphere for the whole celebration was quite different, and more festive if you may.

After the celebration, my P6 classmates and I headed back to NYPS to visit our old teachers. We only managed to meet Mdm Toh though, because our Chinese teacher had already retired and Mr Ting was not in school at that time. Oh well, but at least we got to catch up with our form teacher! It was quite awkward when she asked whether any of us had boyfriends/girlfriends and we all denied. D said he had a boyfriend HAHA. But anyway she managed to figure out after a while that D and I were together, and she became so curious as to when we "became an item" as she put it. We're still keeping that a secret. ;) After that we went to Kerry's house for an impromptu 6I'07 class gathering, and halfway through D started having a fever... ): Took care of him while the others continued to play. He's still sick, hoping that he'll get better soon!

Going to have to choose my subject combination soon, the application closes this coming Wednesday! Most likely I'll be taking Bio, because I feel that I'll have a more sustained interest in that subject, and I'll probably survive better with that over the next two years. Looking forward to the next week of IP activities! With English and Chem tests hahaha.
