Forgiveness.
Today I learnt of something very important during our YF session. We have just started on the book of Daniel, and so far it has been a book filled with great values and applicable lessons. Something that struck me during the session today:
do we really acknowledge that everything we have is from God? I realised that many a time it is terribly easy to just take what we have for granted - the many talents and gifts that we have - and to take all the credit for ourselves without glorifying God. I realise that we have to constantly keep ourselves in check so that whatever may happen, we always remember that all we have is from above. Because without God, we may not even be on this earth today. So be thankful.
Something else that hit me during the YF session:
do we put God as a priority? Or is He just a last resort? Lately I've been putting God behind my mind, and I realised that I'm beginning to put many other things as first priority in my life. This has got to change.
For the sermon today the pastor was talking about forgiveness. Some of the things he said:
Forgiveness is like having a wound and always brushing against it. But
there is something we can learn. Let us focus not on ourselves but on the love
of God towards us. We must learn to thank God for His love and forgiveness for
us, such that now we may have a meaningful relationship with Him. We have to
trust God to heal our wounds and to give us the love that will empower us to
forgive others.
Brilliant stuff. I'm considering bringing my laptop every Sunday just to capture the essence of what the pastors say haha. That aside, forgiveness is something I ought to learn. Forgiving enemies is hard, but God has commanded us to take the first step, and the Holy Spirit will guide us the rest of the way. All we need is the courage to take the first step towards forgiveness.
VOTD:
"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace." Acts 20:24 (NIV)
