Book Review: Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

No. of pages: 400+
Plot: 3/5
Characters and development: 3/5
Overall: 3.5/5

I read this first book of the series quite a while back, so forgive me if I say anything vague or wrong about this book.

This is a dystopian book that centers about two characters, Aria and Perry, who live in a world with Aether - something of a thunderstorm which can be very dangerous and destructive. The human race is divided into two groups - Dwellers, who live indoors, and the Outsiders, who live in tribes on the (you guessed it) outside. As expected these two groups of people dispute the other. Dwellers, with nothing to do indoors, have the technology of the Smarteye; which allows them to enter the Realms, or virtual places, where they can experience any kind of environment they want - from disco parties to jungles. Outsiders live in tribes, with a hierarchy that is built upon "powers" - the stronger your powers are, the higher you become in the hierarchy.

I'm not going to spoil so much, just that I didn't really enjoy the book's plot progression. It seemed like the characters suddenly developed something new in the middle of the book, and while I was reading I was going "well, okay" a lot of the time. The character development wasn't very good as well so I didn't love the book as much as other series.

I've heard of people who loved this book though, so do read it yourselves and see what you think of it!
